CT ASA JO Program July 22, 2014

Things to ponder in the near future

Thank you to all the programs that registered with CT ASA and played in ASA JO tournaments throughout the Northeast. We hope you enjoyed playing ASA as much as we enjoy providing these opportunities.

Thank you to our CT ASA Tournament hosts, Southington Lighting, CT Tigers, Challengers, Xtreme Chaos and USA Elite Showcases for hosting CT ASA Tournaments this summer. We think you all did a great job and are proud of what you did under the ASA banner.

We are excited that the ASA East National U14 Tournament will be hosted by Stratford Softball Tournaments, Inc. July 30-Aug. 3 this year. We have 34 teams from the Northeast and 6 from CT. This is a great turnout. The schedule is posted on the Town of Stratford website. Please come visit us if you can. Please also note that Stratford will host the 10u and 12u ASA National Tournament the same weekend in 2015. Please consider joining us.

We also want to thank all the CT ASA umpires under the leadership of Jeff Van Kirk and Tony Roberto who umpired this year. They are getting better and we are getting more of them involved. I can assure you that CT ASA will never allow a tournament to be modified or cancelled due to umpires not being available.

As we look to the Fall, Please consider the Tournaments listed on www.asanewengland.com. USA Elite has a Showcase starting Sept. 6th in Southington. Please welcome Jason Bradley of Enfield Extreme who has u10’s and 14’s in Enfield starting Sept. 13 and 12’s and 16’s starting Sept. 27. Jason is building a travel program from a recreational program and would welcome your support.

CT is looking for our present hosts to contact us with tournament plans for the fall, next year and in the future. We are also seeking new hosts. We can assist you with our free website postings that also allow teams to sign up online. I will be happy and honored to assist any of you in any way I can.

Please note that CT ASA will host a 12 and 14U Tournament in Norwalk July 20, 2015. More info will follow.

Please know that CT ASA is a Non Profit Organization. All members are volunteers. They receive no payments, but are reimbursed for expenses.

Be reminded that ASA JO team registrations will begin Sept. 1st this year and run to Aug. 31, 2015. Your BollingerASA insurance will still be good to Dec. 31. CT ASA encourages teams and programs to "individually" register. We think if you choose this option in the future, it can give you new options and benefits and save you money. We will still offer still offer "standalone" registrations if you want to stay the course. We will have more info on these subjects when we return from the ASA National Council meeting Nov. 15th.

We tried to have a CT ASA JO program meeting last year and no one came. We will schedule another done during the winter months. Please consider having someone from your program attend as we would like to better explain what we can do for you to make things more efficient. I think this is important.

I have heard that the U8 and U10 programs are a very good place to start. Might you be interested?

If you like what we have done, please tell others. If you would like to help us improve, please contact me. If we are doing something wrong, please tell me.

Thank you for taking the time to read this. Thank you in advance for your continued support. Thank you for playing ASA/USA Softball.

Respectfully,

Hank Koritkoski, CT ASA commissioner

ASA Youth SoftballWelcome to the ASA Youth Program!
ASA PUMP UP VIDEO

The ASA youth program, also known as the Junior Olympic program, is among the nation's largest youth sports organization. Over 80,000 teams, 1.3 million players and 300,000 coaches participate in ASA youth softball on an annual basis. It is the single fastest growing program in the ASA, and has had membership growth every year since its inception in 1974.

The ASA youth program provides recreational and competitive opportunities for boys and girls in both fast and slow pitch. Whether a player views softball as a new sport to learn, as a way to have fun with friends, or as a path to the Olympics, the ASA youth program has something for them. Foremost, the goal of the ASA youth program is to help aspiring young softball athletes learn a sport they can enjoy for a lifetime in a positive, safe, and supportive environment.

Same date and time:

We made this change because the Costa Azzura could not accommodate our expected attendance of over 300 people.  We are sad to leave the Costa Azzura this year, but happy that we found a place to go at this late date.   Please help us get the word out to every person who has made plans to attend about this site change.

The committee is sorry for any inconvenience this may cause, we are also happy that we can still hold this event at the same time and at a location that is only ten minutes travel from the original site.
Please reply to me with the names of the people you contact so I can make notes to insure all attendees have be informed of this site change.
I look forward to seeing you all in 10 days.
